Why it's here
Suvretta House stands above St. Moritz, a little apart from the town, and has been the quiet choice of certain families for more than a century. This humidor is built in its image: the whole facade, towers and balconies included, drawn around the box. To most visitors it is a handsome building. To a few it is a place they have spent every February since childhood. We chose it for those few.
The object
The exterior is sycamore finished in seven coats of varnish, with the hotel's balconies picked out in metal so they stand slightly proud of the surface. Inside, two levels of okoumé wood and a lift-out tray hold up to 110 cigars and keep them in order.
Living with it
It suits a chalet, a library or any room where winters are remembered. Keep the humidifier filled and rotate the cigars between the levels every few weeks. It will be asked about, and the answer is a good story.
