Why it's here

Oakley has always made the most inventive sports glasses and rarely the most restrained. Satisfy took one of its more radical frames and stripped away the colour, leaving the engineering in plain view. It is the single deliberately strange object on these pages, and it is here because a collection with no surprises is a dull one.

The object

Each arm splits in two near the ear so the frame grips the head without squeezing, and holds firm on a rough descent. The lenses darken in bright sun and clear in shade within seconds. The frame is Oakley's own light, flexible plastic, with rubber pads that grip harder as you sweat.

Living with it

They are built for running and cycling in changing light: woods, dawn starts, mountain weather. Off the trail they have the look of late-nineties science fiction, which is very much the point.
