Why it's here
Standing through part of the working day is good for the body, and nearly every desk that allows it looks like office equipment: two steel columns and a slab. The Tenon has four slim legs and a wood top with a bevelled edge. With the motors and cables out of sight, it reads as a piece of furniture you would choose anyway.
The object
A motor in each leg raises and lowers the top smoothly and almost silently. A small touchscreen set into the surface controls the height and remembers your positions. Power and cables run through a concealed tray, and a soft light under the edge can be switched on in the evening.
Living with it
Set one height for sitting and one for standing, and change between them a few times a day. It suits a study at home where an office desk would spoil the room.
