Hasselblad cameras recorded the Apollo landings, and the black box with chrome edges has hardly changed since. What sets this one apart is loyalty. Its digital back clips onto Hasselblad film cameras made as far back as 1957, so a grandfather's camera can take pictures again. Few companies build new technology to serve their old objects, and we wanted the one that does.
The object
The camera comes in two parts: a wafer-thin body and a digital back with a tilting screen. You hold it at the waist and look down into it, as photographers did sixty years ago. The sensor is far larger than that of an ordinary camera, which gives the pictures their depth and gentle colour.
Living with it
It slows you down, and that is the pleasure of it. You compose, wait and press once. It suits portraits, landscapes and anything worth printing large. Storage is built in, so there is no card to forget.
