Why it's here
Some of the best evenings with a film happen away from the living room: on a bedroom ceiling, against a garden wall in August, in a house rented for the week. The Cine Play 1 is the Leica you carry to those places. It is here for the same reason as its larger sibling, the romance of a projected picture, in a form that travels.
The object
A compact block of aluminium with a glass front and a single red dot, standing on a folding arm that tilts it to any angle, the ceiling included. Three lasers produce a 4K image, and the projector focuses and squares the picture by itself within seconds of being set down.
Living with it
Carry it from room to room, point it at a pale wall and press play. It connects over Wi-Fi and AirPlay, so there is nothing to plug in beyond power. Outdoors, wait until it is properly dark.
