Why it's here
A haircut is handwork, and whoever does it holds a single tool for most of the day. Someone at the top of that trade deserves shears equal to the skill, for the client's sake and for the satisfaction of the work itself. The Dangeom is that pair. The object
Dangeom is the Korean word for dagger, and the blade is shaped like one: broad at the pivot, narrowing to a needle point. It is forged from VG-10 steel, a hard Japanese alloy that holds an edge, and etched with a rippled Damascus pattern. The handle is offset, with a flared thumb ring that keeps the wrist relaxed through long sessions.
Living with it
One pair handles sectioning, blunt lines and fine point work, so it rarely leaves the hand. Oil the pivot and wipe the blades at the end of each day. With regular sharpening, good shears last a working lifetime.
