Why it's here
Italian bars have pulled espresso through the same group head since 1961. Rocket builds that mechanism by hand in Milan and fits it into a machine narrow enough for an apartment counter, which is what the name means. It is here because the first cup of the day should be made by your own hand, on equipment that shows you how it works.
The object
Twenty kilograms of polished steel, with a lever for the group, two gauges and a pair of wands for steam and hot water. A 1.8-litre heat-exchanger boiler lets you brew and steam milk at once, as a barista does. The round cut-outs in the side panels, backed in copper or white, are the signature of the model.
Living with it
Switch it on when you wake and give it twenty minutes to come up to temperature. Pair it with a good grinder, because the machine can only be as good as the grounds. Wiped down daily and descaled now and then, it will run for decades.
