Why it's here

For most of its history Henry Jacques made perfume only to private order, with no shops and no advertising. The Classiques are formulas from that archive, opened to the public at last. Onction is our choice among them because it is worn the old way: a single drop of oil on the skin, noticed only by someone standing close.

The object

The scent is dense and resinous: cedar, saffron and myrrh over oud and red rose. It contains no alcohol, so it does not lift off into the room. It stays where you put it and lasts the day. The flacon is thick, faceted crystal, and the stopper carries a small wand for applying it.

Living with it

Touch the wand to each wrist and once below the ear. That is enough. The bottle belongs on a dresser in plain view, and at this strength it will last a very long time.
